This programme will target the following groups:
· Young adult women. Women Business Center has identified women as people who face historical challenges because of societal historical attitudes to them for millennia. As a result of this, women developed not only a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit, but also the ability to operate on a very narrow and thin resource base, inculcating in them a thriftiness and husbandry that is also a hallmark and defining attribute of successful entrepreneurship.
· High risk unemployed youth with the potential to become successful business owners. Women Business Center has directed its primary focus on this group because these factors – youth and young adulthood constitutes the higher or upper proportion of South Africa’s 40% unemployed population, it shows the greatest enthusiasm to learn entrepreneurial skills, government and corporate South Africa have committed themselves and the resources they command more to its development and empowerment simply because the future of our country belongs to it. By its nature, this group is not averse to risk taking – a crucial element of entrepreneurship – Oprah Winfrey, Jenny Lefcourt, Bill Gates, Richard Bronson and Patrice Motsepe are living examples of this phenomenon.
·Unemployed graduates’ intervention programmes will be developed in order to raise this group’s levels of self-esteem for them to take up the challenges of entrepreneurship and move them away from a mindset that was inculcated them to regard themselves as people qualified for the white employment market – at management level.
This group of individuals will be put through a dynamic development programme to set them up for successful venture businesses.
